Penrose Kite & Dart Tiling: New Specialty Shapes!

5x7 inch Penrose “Kite”,  wearing (from top clockwise: Red Gloss, Ruby, Cherry, Lapis glaze hues)

5x7 inch Penrose “Dart” tile, wearing Firebrick and Orchid glaze hies.

Penrose second tiling, (P2)
“Kite & Dart”.

Yup, geometry is kinda sexy, no?
As far as visual pleasure goes…
I’m on board with these 💯🔥

A Maryland mathematician couple requested I revisit this design for their kitchen and bath remodel.
They’re looking into a combination of red and purple, which is bold as hell, but hey… let’s do this.
I ordered (3) new glaze hues…
Cherry
Lapis
Orchid…
Cherry is driving me crazy, doesn’t wanna play nice, red glazes in ceramics are notorious for this. Lapis and Orchid came out beautifully!

I just shipped out these samples… let’s hope for the best! It’s super exciting if these get installed!!!

Head over to my story to see full images of these tiles, please, and thank you.

Need a unique design for your next home renovation or new construction? I offer a multitude of glaze hues to tickle your fancy… or I can order something special, just for you. I also have many other specialty tile shapes, and your traditional standard field tile. Send me a message, I’m here to talk tile with you. Shy? Go to my Shopify site… explore for yourself… leanigel.com

Interested in what the Penrose going is all about? I don’t blame you, it’s very cool! It’s unique because it an a periodic tiling of the plane. You have to lay it out utilizing the seven vertex figures pictured here. They’re called sun, star, ace, king, jack, queen, and duece. The Kite & Dart tiles work together as a rhombus, or solo in other layouts, but they’d technically not be a Penrose tiling. Don’t be shy, message me with any questions, thoughts, or ideas!
