Locally, the Mute Swan has made the news, been the subject of protest. There are two species, the Trumpeter Swan and the Mute Swan… here in Michigan. The Mute Swan is an invasive species and the D.N.R recently set out on a mission to control he invasive species on the Boardman River. The river area in Traverse City, Michigan was re-routed after the removal of a long standing dam. There was a nesting swan pair here, you could see when you drove past, over the bridge. A lot of people were upset when the re-routing project began and were concerned about this nesting pair.
A made-to-order tile will take 2-4 weeks depending on the kiln schedule and how busy the studio is.
I hand press and hand glaze each individual tile in our studio in Northern Michigan just for you. Genuine handcrafted tile designed and produced by trained artisans. The images show our Swan with a True Celadon (lighter, translucent green) and a Jade (darker, opaque, speckled green) glaze background, you can choose or request a different color to match your design. In the early 1970’s, Roger Penrose discovered that a surface can be completely tiled in an asymmetrical, non-repeating manner in five-fold symmetry with two shapes based on phi, the Golden Ratio. This creates a visually stunning tessellation when our Thick and Thin Rhomb are paired together.
Each Thick Rhomb is nominal 5x7x1/2 inch and you will need approximately (5) tile per square foot.
We have an extensive glaze color selection. Please get in touch with our studio today to choose the perfect color for your design plan.
Samples are $21.60 each, plus $16 Sample Pack base fee. Please contact the studio for orders, questions. Samples cost between $15-25 to ship, depending on quantity ordered.
